Unexpected Message Results

Fix filters, repeated messages, formatting, translations, watermarks, and mirror actions.

If copies arrive twice, look different from what you expected, or go to the wrong topic, start with the matching section below.

Click the original chat you monitor in the left-hand list to open its settings. Some settings may come from Global Settings; How Settings Work explains how to change them for just that chat.

Filters block messages

If a message is blocked unexpectedly, open Filters for the original chat:

  1. Blocklist: check whether a word or author rule is blocking it.
  2. Allowlist: if you added rules here, the message must match at least one to pass. For example, allowing signal and author Maya lets through messages containing signal or messages from Maya.
  3. Matching: check spelling and capitalization. Use Case Insensitive to ignore capitalization, and Exact when an author name should match in full. For a fixed word or phrase, use TEXT.

Try one message that should pass and one that should be blocked. See Filters for examples.

Duplicate messages

If one original message arrives more than once, check:

  1. Two automations copying the same chat: make sure they are not both sending it to the same destination.
  2. The same destination added twice: open Routing for the original chat and remove the extra entry.
  3. The original text was posted twice: enable Skip sequential duplicates under Advanced β†’ Skip Duplicate Messages.

A chat's own destination list replaces its Global Settings list. Configuring both does not automatically send two copies.

Skip sequential duplicates ignores identical text posted consecutively in the same original chat. If copies keep bouncing between chats without new posts, follow Stop Forwarding Loops.

Messages arrive in the wrong Telegram topic

If copies arrive in General or another topic, open Routing for the original chat:

  1. Check Chat ID: it should identify the destination group containing the topic.
  2. Check Topic ID (Optional): it should identify the topic where you want the copies. Leaving it empty can send messages to General.
  3. If either ID is wrong, open the receiving chat selector and choose Add Telegram Chat. Create a corrected entry using Manual, then select Add Destination β†’ Done.
  4. Replace the old chat selection with the corrected entry, select Save Changes, and try a new message.

Not sure which numbers to use? Forward to Telegram Topics shows how to get the group and topic IDs from a message link. Saved IDs cannot be edited, which is why you add a corrected entry.

Formatting, translation, and watermarks

What looks wrongWhat to check
Unexpected header, footer, or author nameOpen Formatting β†’ Message Format. Use @Message alone for the original text without an author label.
Words disappear or changeCheck the rules in Formatting β†’ Text Replacement. See Replace or Remove Text.
Header or footer was translated tooThis is expected: translation includes your formatted header and footer.
Text stays in the original languageEnable Translation in Automation Features, then check your API key, provider credits, and selected model.
Watermark is missingEnable Image Watermarking in Automation Features, then check the Watermark tab. This feature applies to images, not videos or documents.
Discord embed image has no watermarkEnable Watermark Discord embed images in Watermark when forwarding Discord embeds to Discord. Animated GIFs keep their original image.

For setup examples, see Message Format, Translations, and Watermark Image. Use your own test chats to check one change at a time.

Mirror actions do not work

If replies, edits, deletions, or pins are not reflected in the receiving chat:

  1. Make sure the original message was forwarded. ForwardMsg needs its copy to apply the action.
  2. Open Advanced β†’ Mirror Options, enable the action, and select Save Changes. Restart if prompted.
  3. Check that the receiving bot has the permissions needed for that action.
  • Discord webhook: reply text arrives as a separate message; pins and unpins are not mirrored. To keep replies linked or mirror pins, use a Discord bot with Enable webhooks turned off.
  • Telegram bot: it must be in the destination chat where copies arrive, with administrator permissions for actions such as deleting or pinning messages.
  • Copying from WhatsApp: replies, edits, and deletions can be mirrored, but pins and unpins cannot.

See Sync and Mirror Actions for each option and examples.
