Connect a Discord Account

Connect your account with QR or a token, then copy messages from channels your account already has access to.

Connect your Discord account to copy messages from channels your account already has access to. You do not need to own the original server. You do not need to be an administrator. You do not need to invite a bot to those servers.

Forward text, images, videos, files, and other supported media to the destination you chooseβ€”Discord, Telegram, or Slack. Discord messages can also include embeds: rich cards attached to a message, such as link previews or bot posts. You can customize copies with a header or footer in Message Format, choose what to forward in Forward Options, and set how Discord embeds appear with Discord Embed Style. Upload limits depend on the destination platform.

Where to find it
Open your automation β†’ Automation Settings β†’ Source β†’ Add Discord Account

Open the connection form

  1. Open your Discord-source automation.
  2. Find Automation Settings.
  3. Open the Source selector. Source means the account that reads the original messages.
  4. Select Add Discord Account.

Connect with a QR code

  1. Choose the QR connection method in the dialog.
  2. Open Discord on your phone.
  3. Open the QR-scanning option in the Discord mobile app.
  4. Scan the QR code shown in ForwardMsg.
  5. Approve the login on your phone.
  6. Wait for ForwardMsg to show that the account is connected.

If the QR code expires, request a fresh one. If your phone approves the login but ForwardMsg still does not connect, use the token method below.

Connect with your account token

A token is a private login credential, much like a password. Copy only your own account's token and paste it only into the ForwardMsg connection form.

  1. Choose the token connection method.
  2. Follow Get a Discord Token. The browser extension is the easiest option; that page also shows a manual method.
  3. Return to ForwardMsg.
  4. Paste the value into the token field.
  5. Complete the connection dialog.

Save and choose channels

  1. Confirm your account appears in Source.
  2. Select Update Settings to save that connection for the automation.
  3. Select Start.
  4. Wait for Running.
  5. Select Add Server.
  6. Choose the server and the channels you want to copy messages from.
  7. Confirm the selection.

Use Add Channel or Add Server to add more. Connecting an account does not select all its channels: ForwardMsg monitors only the ones you add.

Choose where copies arrive in Routing, or follow a Discord forwarding guide.

If a channel or server is missing

If a server/channel is missing, open it in Discord with the same account. If your account can access it there, reload the conversation selector in ForwardMsg.

If the account disconnects

For repeated disconnections, check Discord Account Disconnections. It explains email/password changes, logging out the browser session, and how to reconnect using a private browser window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to own the server or be an administrator?
No. You can copy messages from channels your account already has access to, without owning the server or being an administrator.
The QR login succeeds on my phone, but ForwardMsg does not connect. What next?
QR login can be inconsistent, even when it succeeds on your phone. If ForwardMsg still does not connect, use the token method and follow Get a Discord Token.
